Is it available - olympus or non-OEM? What are folks using?

Thanks Ray - will check it out. Knowing it is equivalent to the RM-UC1 puts me in the ballpark.

    Remote release for E-P2 ?

I'd like to experiment with remote shutter release with my E-P2 (wired is fine) BUT I'm not at all keen to pay the absurd premium price for an Olympus brand remote (the RM-UC1 is around 50GBP in the UK, which is where I am)

Anyone had any success with eBay clones? I took a chance and bought one for a tenner but the USB wouldn't even fit the camera ... but I bet there are some out there which do work OK.

    Any recommendations ?

(I've seen the thread about making ones own, but I won't be doing that ...)

pdh, I've just merged the two threads together in hopes that others will post here about where they purchased their remotes, wired or not.

I bought one off ebay too, it was a cheap-ish one with a time laps and timer functionality.

    Timer Remote Shutter Release OLYMPUS E-450 E-510 RM-UC1 on eBay.ca (item 140405441001 end time 05-Jun-10 01:51:07 EDT)

It 90% worked. It only malfunctioned when I had continuous shooting on or when it was unable to obtain focus in auto focus mode.

I ended up fixing it though by taking it apart and unsoldering one wire and resoldering it in another place... it works fine now - except I don't get half-press but at least it doesn't freeze/lock the camera or shoot continuously until I unplug it

I can't figure out why some do not ship internationally, their loss, as you can always find substitutes on eBay who do and usually at better prices:

Timer Remote Shutter Release for Olympus E410 E510 E520 - eBay (item 320449778428 end time May-15-10 03:53:54 PDT)

    Timer Remote Shutter Release Olympus E400 E410 E450 E30 - eBay (item 250611119139 end time Jun-06-10 04:29:57 PDT)

    Even wireless if you want:

Wireless Shutter Release +timer remote for OLYMPUS E420 - eBay (item 250618671366 end time May-20-10 01:22:43 PDT)

    Cheers

    I got one of these
Wireless Remote Control for E-P1 et al
and it works well with just one caveat.

You need remember to remove the receiver battery after use otherwise you may wind up with a prematurely flat battery as the unit switches on too easily.

hmm looks like cheapies always have some issue or other ... might have to give up on this for a while (though that one linked to by PeterB666 is pretty whizzy - timelapse!)
