Hmm not sure if it is all that good of a deal. Sure, it's $200 less, but it's refurbished... and that can mean anything. Plus, to get warranty, you have to pay ~$78 more... Whereas if I buy new, I don't have to worry about past problems and it comes with the warranty.

    Choices, choices.

    :)

and I am only very slightly annoyed due to my scottish roots that I paid 1200 dollars including sales tax for it!!!

Good deal on a great lens.

Mfr refurb gets 30 day warranty -- plenty of time to see if it's defective.

If I wasn't broke I would jump on it myself.

If I hadn't bought the Olympus 60/2.8 macro last week I would be all over this.

Even now it is hard to not push the button ...

I almost did, backed out before committing to buy. Somehow containing myself because I have bought WAY too much gear this winter :(. Will liquify some stuff and buy it new in couple of months I guess.

Olympus sometimes $100 rebate this lens, they did it last year on Nov or Dec, so for $100 difference, I think it's not worth it, but thanks for the head up.

There's a 90 day warranty stated in the listing--the card is even in the main photo. Not the full new warranty, granted, but that's something, plenty of time if its a dud. I bought a Oly 9-18mm refurbed with a 90 day warrenty a year ago and have never had a problem. With that said, I totally understand the concern.

They are gone. All sold in a couple of hours. This particular ebay seller has very good deals on refurbished equipment (mostly Olympus). Things come and go pretty quickly. On the 75mm, his factory refurbished price was $150 lower than Cameta's.

Considering that these lenses are selling used here in our forum classifieds for $790 - $825 shipped, this price was freaking amazing.

I bought my EM-5 refurbished from Cameta. So far, nary a problem. I believe refurbished means that the item received individual scrutiny from the factory because it was already faulty off the assembly line. It comes back double checked as far as I know!

And sometimes factory refurbished label is a way for the manufacturer to dispose of excess inventory without unsettling retail prices too much.

I traded for the 75 a couple of months ago; it's now permanently mounted to Amin's old E-PM2. This lens is worth the full price - maybe more - it's that special.

If you want to get some idea of the lens before buying, mount a ~$80 Olympus TCON-17 on the 45/1.8 with 4 spacers (step-up rings and empty filters) and try it for a few days. Handle the combo gently, the TCON is much heavier than the filters that the 45 is supposed to be holding with its plastic thread. This is less sharp, especially at edges, but a reasonable fascimile for composition and depth of field.
