I just returned from a three day paddle through a very small section of the Okefenokee national wild life refuge , which covers 630 sq miles. We were in the swamp which covers approximately 450,000 acres which we did a 26 mile paddle through. I usually don't start a thread but did want to share more than two or three pics. The only down side of paddling in flat water and being in a group was if I spent more than three minutes getting my camera out stowing my paddle taking a photo and getting everything back in order the rest of the crew was a couple of hundred meters ahead and out of sight so I would have to double time to keep up and not be anti-social.
Our first stretch was about 12 miles through a canal which at times was quite narrow then into a prairie .

So since I am not sure how many photo's to put in one post I will continue with another. Our first night after a day of 20 mph winds found us sleeping on a platform in the prairie the temperature went down to maybe upper 30's F. Fortunately there was plenty of anti-freeze on hand along with gas cook stoves.

We had our first mascot come to see if there would be any left overs.

After a good nights sleep and some coffee we were ready to shove off.

The prairies were a little plain and I looked forward to our return to the cypress groves.

After portaging across Floyd island where we camped we entered the last leg of the trip at the head waters of the Suwannee River.

It was a great trip but tbh I was going to continue solo but after fighting the wind I was pretty beat so I headed back home.
After saying goodbye to our escorts of course!

Brilliant. Quite some experience.
Not sure about the 'gators! Crocodiles?
Wondering what stopped them climbing into bed with you!
Obviously there wasn't any mishap.
