Just thought it might be fun to share quotes related to photography, and photo related remarks made to you that live in (haunt) your memory...

    My two personal favourites:

The notorious "Thats a great photo - you must have a good camera" AAAAAARGH! Bet you've heard that ego crushing remark a few times...

Some years ago I was attending an period re-enactment of the English Civil War, and was addressed by one of the actors, resplendant in the full garb of a Cavalier officer: "You sir! forsooth, that be a wondrous fine image maker around thy neck!"

"Wow, what the heck is that?!?" - asked about my GH1 with the enlarger lens at the end of an M42 extension tube stack with the Styrofoam diffuser wrapped around the tube.

If that doesn't explain photography, nothing ever will.

Someone looked at one of David Baileys photographs and said to him:-

You must have been really lucky to get everything in the right place

    He replied:-

Yes, the more photographs I take, the "luckier" I seem to get

I was once immersed in a field of poppies, macro lens on tripod mounted camera inches from a bloom. A car screeched to a halt, the window wound down and a voice called out, "Wotcha taking pictures of, mate?"

"Errr, Poppies," I replied, somewhat surprised.

"Oh," said the rather dissappointed voice, "I fort it was a rare bird or summat." Then the window wound up and he drove off.

Ladies, even real ones, can be just as bad. On another occasion I was perched on the verge of a quiet lane photographing a beautiful blue flower. "I say," said an enthusiastic and authorative voice hurrying over to me, "Have you found something interesting?" Her tone changed to one of disappointment and mild scorn. "Oh, it's a Scabious, they are really common," she uttered reproachfully before hurrying on her way.

Regardless of how many pictures you take, how good they are, or even if you take any pictures, I always think that a camera helps you to see much more than other people.
