I used a combination of Lightroom (which straightened out the sloping and bent horizon and did the crop) and Topaz Adjust on this:

and quickly ended up with this:

    Go software!

Be careful with Topaz. At first everything looks great with it. Over time, everything starts to look obnoxious with it. When you first get it, its the hammer and EVERY photograph looks like a nail. Over time, I've come to using it on less than 1% of my photos and I have to be really careful with it when I do. Its just waay too obvious most of the time and quickly gets obnoxious. That said, I think it works quite well i this case...

I know what you mean. I am always in two minds about photos being turned into something that looks like CGI.
In this case it transformed a nothing into a something though.

Nice job on this picture :) . It looks great.

I never heard of Topaz until now. I went to their web site, and I have to say that in most of their samples, I actually prefer the original version more than the "Topaz-ed" version.

    Thanks!
    Neither had I until yesterday.
It was mentioned on this thread:https://www.mu-43.com/f88/post-your-one-best-photo-2010-a-8250/index6.html
This windmill picture used it apparently and I think that image would not have looked as good without it:
