Does Panasonic 20mm f1.7 focus quicker than Olympus 17mm f2.8?
No. Pretty much regardless of the body its used on, the new Oly 12 is faster and quieter than the Panasonic 14, which is faster and quieter than the Olympus 17, which is faster and quieter than the Panasonic 20. On the faster AF cameras like the GH2, G3, and the new Olympus models, the differences are less pronounced than on earlier, slower bodies. But the relationship still holds. Although really its tough to tell the difference between the 12 and 14, both are soooo fast and sooooo quiet, but there is a slight difference. There is a noticeable difference with the 17, however, and an even bigger gap between the 17 and 20.
But none of them suck! Particularly with the new bodies, they're all quite good!
Seems pretty similar on the E-P3 to me, but like Ray says, the 17mm is quieter.
The 20mm (due to bigger app.) seems to fair better as the environment gets darker, but both will hunt in the dark.
Just a casual observation.
