Quick question - OM2N Mirror Lock

Hi guys,

I've got a OM1N and a few other film cameras so I'd like to think I'm not a complete newbie. I just picked up a 2N and I've read a bit about the mirror-lock issue before but now I've got one and experienced the issue first hand - its actually a little disconcerting.

I've got fresh SR44 batteries but it still seems to lock in the up position randomly (on initial tests it appears to be mainly slow shutter speeds).

I've read that the 'Check/Reset' switch should reset the mirror but as far as I can tell it doesn't. I've also read the manual for the older '2' model and it indicates that the 'Bulb' setting and switch can be used to drop the mirror - doesn't seem to work the same way on the 2N. So I've just been unscrewing the lens and fiddling with the mirror until it drops.

Any tips or advice on things to check or a foolproof reset process ? Other than this issue the camera seems fine - meter is accurate, action is smooth, body is in great condition.

Thanks in advance,
