When I put my Panny lenses in manual mode the EVF zooms in on the subject as soon as I turn the focusing ring. This is a very helpful feature. Does this also happen when one turns the focusing ring with an adapter and Nikon lens? I'm kind of thinking that it doesn't since there is no electrical contact between the adapter and the body.

You are correct, that if there are no electrical contacts the body has no way of knowing your manipulating the lens. The focus with a native lens is focus by wire, with an adapted or manual native lens(voigtlander 25& 17) there is no communication with the body. So in order to zoom you will need to trigger the zoom(manual focus )mode yourself. This is true of any m4/3 body using a manual focus lens.
