Went pumpkin picking with my wife this past weekend to get us each a pumpkin to carve, so I brought along my G5 and a couple lenses (Panasonic 12-35mm & Olympus 75mm). Felt great to get a chance to shoot some photos, I've felt really cooped up lately.

Here's some of the shots from the day, hope you enjoy!

One advantage to good sharp lenses is I can crop a little more aggressively without losing resolution unacceptably. I framed this shot wide (19mm) originally but playing with it in post I quite liked the crop version as well.

In addition to the expected farms stand stuff, they had a mini carnival set up with a few games, a giant bouncy cow, petting zoo, pony rides, and typical carnival food.

Great series, Jay. I'm looking forward to taking the kids for some pumpkin picking soon.

I liked your example of how much a crop can change a photo and how well the resolution stood up to a big time crop.

    Thanks

With the exception of 1st and 5th shots which had the vibrance and/or saturation adjusted very slightly, these are all default color settings for G5 RAW files through Lightroom.

Recently I started running all my shots on through a Lightroom preset at import time that bumps up contrast, reduces highlights and lifts shadows just a smidge, and increases clarity to 20. Those are the most common adjustments I tend to make, so if nothing else this gives me a baseline closer to where I want to end up. From there I adjust individual images if needed.

Looks like it was a perfect day and lots of fun. The cropped image is beautiful and the colors throughout are excellent! :2thumbs:

Nice to see Hunterdon County. I usually make a trip there each fall but , unfortunately, not this year.
