We haven't called Uluru "Ayres Rock" for twenty years now and the indigenous population find it a bit insulting. In respect for the traditional custodians of the land we should use the correct name.

There's lots of driving between places but it's worth it. It's a whole different lifestyle to the coast.

I used Ayres rock here because I'm not sure how many people know what Uluru is. It's registered as Ayres Rock and when I got to the top the survey mark says the same. I think it's most commonly referred to as Uluru Ayres Rock, not sure. Thanks for your concern anyway.

Mum had been wanting to take us out there for ages and I'm glad we finally did it. I didn't realise but if you're strapped for time you can even fly directly to Uluru Ayres Rock.

You'll have to take her there mate, she'll love the walks around the surrounding Olgas 'kata tjuta' and gorges.

There's only a few extra ones on flickr that I didn't put on Pt1 & 2. I tried to find the most interesting so it wouldn't bore people to tears. haha

Thought about going there on our trip (leaving the 9th), but it was just too expensive for the 5 of us going. Mainly going to see my family in Canberra, but will spend some time on the coast and a couple of days in Sydney.

As i remember from years ago, there is more genetic variability in camels In Australia than In the middle east, and at the time Australia was exporting camels to the middle east ( especially for racing).
