hi all, I recently made use of the recent deal and bought an Promaster 7500edf (Olympus version). I currently do not have an Olympus body to fully test. I own a Panasonic GX7 and have access to 2 Sony e mount mirrorless bodies (nex-6 a7). I bought the flash to use in optical slave mode (off camera) or on camera in manual mode. While I am aware that in Panasonic bodies this flash do not have TTL functions, I wonder if it is compatible in other aspects as manual flash. I do not want to fry circuits of the cameras (panasonic and sony) or the flash when I attach it to the camera and test it.. Anyone has tested the Olympus version this flash on Panasonic and Sony bodies in manual mode? thanks
Your issue was highlighted on DPReview almost a year ago: Panasonic GX7 and Promaster 7500edf: Micro Four Thirds Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review The short story is, you should have no problem or issues using it on your camera unless you have the same problem the DPR member had, which turned out to be a faulty hotshoe on his camera.
hi Michael, thank you, I tried the flash it works great both when attached to GX7 directly (in manual mode) or in optical slave mode triggered by Gx7's pop up flash that I like a lot. I did not have chance to try it on sony bodies yet.. btw, your lighting tutorials are great, thank you for those as well.. best wishes
