Has anyone else experienced and issues with the fl-300r? I have only really had the occasion to use the flash once and now the flash doesn't work.

When I turn the unit on the Auto Check light only stays lit for a few seconds and then goes out. I tried holding the power button down and then the Auto Check light goes on and off until I open the battery door.

Does anyone have any advise or should I contact Olympus for support?

    Thanks,
    JrWorthy

    1. When mounted on the camera, the camera must be ON
    2. You must hold the flash ON button for about 3 seconds.

  3. And whatever you do, do not, repeat, not load it with lithium batteries.

I tried this and I have the same result. The Auto Check light flashes on and off in green.

I tried looking on the Olympus site but there was no info in their FAQ. Do you have any further ideas?

I had an issue with the FL-300R flash, and Olympus replaced it for me free of charge.

I forgot the exact problem it was, but Olympus was great about the service!

There was a recall for about 14,000 flashes, maybe check your serial #. I believe started at 101,000
I remember a thread on DPR, sorry to have to reference that little slice of hell.

    Allan,

What is wrong with lithium batteries in the FL-300R?
