Power Grid

Discussion in 'Scenic, Architecture, and Travel' started by Harvey Melvin Richards, Nov 13, 2016.

  1. Post up photos of the power grid.

I was out for a Saturday bike ride and when I got to the top of a hill, I noticed all the different new solar farms. From one vantage point I saw 5 different installations.

Not "my" grid, but I have always loved the transmission towers at Hoover dam.

The way they do this is pretty cool (not my video).

Nearby Northrup Canyon is where the man-camps were during construction of the Grand Coulee dam. They dumped garbage in nearby piles. I think they ate a lot of beans.

Not an m43 shot, but this one certainly fits this thread. Span 1 of the Sognefjord Spans across the Sognefjord in Norway. The span is over 4km long. Taken early morning from an open boat deck while holding a 4yo with one hand. Nikon D40 + 18-55 kit lens.

Cardiff by the Sea, CA - old beach towns are charming in their messy, thrown together feel... It sure feels like whoever designed the power-grid here was in his flip-flops on his way to the beach to surf.

  14. My wife took some photos of the power lines in Bejing several years ago, and your lines look highly organized compared to those in China.

I am sure this is true - have seen some things that made me worried to just be in their vicinity in other countries. It is less common in here, however.

Here's an odd one I put together for a landscape class I took a couple of years ago. All are views from an urban park.
