Went for a walk around town today. I must have been in a strange mood, I go past these all the time, but today I thought of this thread.

Victor, Colorado was an gold mining town. It's heyday was around the turn of the 20th century. No idea what a sailor would be doing up at 10,000 feet this far from the nearest ocean at the turn of the 20th century. Now tourists can sip coffee in this converted hotel and speculate on such mysteries.

@WaltP. Here's one down the street. Walt, is that the Austrian woman's amazing bakery? Never expected to see such in Victor!

Michael, No, this is a new place on Victor street across from the Fortune Club. But the Austrian bakery is wonderful indeed. Victor was a Gold mining town, so it has a LOT of history - most of it wild and crazy. In 1900, it was much larger (6500 people?) than it is now and Cripple Creek (next door) was considered as the state capitol! Those people survived at 10,000 feet through the mountain winters to get the gold!!! Imagine us humans with different values!!!

Here is a more tame one in that reflects our 6 military bases in Colorado Springs. lol

That looks like Denver and 20 minutes later it might be 80 degrees and need cleaning up.
Or this needs a caption. I suggest "Ralph returned the hotel's vacuum when he found out it would NOT be considered 'Carry-on' and settled for the same boring old stolen mini soap bar as a gift for his wife. A freak mountain storm helped him secure the required sympathy and comforting."
