Possible to import edit history from a different Lightroom 3 catalog?

Mainly for performance reasons, I used to keep separate Lightroom catalogs for each calendar year. My old computer was, well, old, and it was a chore to keep up with CPU and disk intensive LR chores.

Now I have a faster computer with 8GB of memory and multiple hard drives, so I've gone ahead and generated a single catalog that has all my images. The trouble is that these, obviously, don't have any edits I've already done on existing images. I could have taken an existing catalog and added other years to it, but this would also be missing the other years' catalogs' edit histories.

So... is it possible to import just the history of edits into a catalog without creating duplicating entries of images?

    Thank you for any help,

    Hyun.

If you write XMP files in the "old" catalogues and then "read" those XMP files in the new catalogue then your files will be updated. You won't get your history or any virtual copies though.

Ideally you should have imported the old catalogues into the new one rather than importing the images.

    Thanks Gordon. Another "learn-the-hard-way" experience...
