We've had Tapatalk and Forum Runner installed for quite a while now here at Mu-43.com. Both apps are designed to improve the forum experience on a mobile device.

Today, we updated our installations of both apps to the most current version, enabling things like iPad support for Tapatalk and push notifications for Forum Runner.

Please take a minute to respond to the poll about your experience with these apps.

I hate when my phone pretends to be smarter than me; so I clinch to my old dumb one, at least it doesn't blue screen when I want to make a call.

These are both apps for iOS, Android, etc, that are supposed make it easier to browse the forums compared to using the regular mobile browser.

Iv used forum runner albeit sparingly .

    D/L tapatalk today while traveling.

I find both to be tedious, bit it may stem from lack of experience...

Sent using forum runner. With great difficulty..... :)

I've tried Tapatalk and it works. I don't think it's anything wrong with the forums, but just their current alpha-quality level BlackBerry application is pretty crappy. Haven't tried the iOS version on my iPod Touch, but I would hope that the iOS and Android app is a lot more polished.

OK still dont see what advantage these apps give me over browsing to them over safari on the iphone.

sell me on the idea and i might buy... but I just dont get it

then again I never understood the appeal of RSS... which I am guessing is what these apps are hooking into

I don't see how they overcome the fact that the screen is so small. I laugh at people trying to post forums from their phones scrolling all over the place.

It's just another way to browse the forums. Some prefer it, and others don't!

For starters, they reflow the text so it isn't tiny until you double tap. They also get rid of the columns and tiny buttons.

Tested both on iPad and prefer Tapatalk.
Tapatalk is also good as there is a compatible app on Windows Phone 7.

OK so its maybe me just in late night cantankerous mode

but you post a poll asking response to a feature that appears to me, as a pretty tech savvy person, as a 'so what' or indeed a wtftiaa.....what the xxxx is that all about

If this is a feature of this site... then sell the benefit... so far you haven't done... and if you have confused/disinterested me then I am guessing you haven't even started to get to the majority of this forum.

what makes this forum so good is the emphasis on the benefit... not the feature

K I'm out on the road but will post a few of what I perceive to be benefits. One is that these apps are optimized for small screens with no need for double tapping, pinching, etc. Two is that they are less demanding data wise, so people on slow or limited mobile connections may have a faster and/or cheaper experience.

We installed these as a result of member requests to do so.

While I agree that these features aren't a big deal (from my perspective anyways) it doesn't hurt to get feedback and refine aspects of the site that other people may use. I don't think he's trying to sell anything, just make adjustments for members using these features.

I wasn't accusing Amin of trying to sell me any software - I was just pointing out that he asked for an opinion on a feature of the site without selling the benefit of that feature
