These photos were taken at a rest stop on the north shore of Lake Superior that overlooks Split Rock Lighthouse. I stopped there on my way back from a Minnesota Viking game a couple of weeks ago. It was twilight and getting to be quite dark as the sun was just setting.
I used my Panasonic GF1 and 14-140mm Panasonic zoom lens on a tripod. I set the camera to take 7 bracketed exposures (1/3 EV apart) of each scene and then processed the pictures using Photomatrix Pro. I really like the HDR effect, although I admit that these probably need some more fine tuning. Anyone have any suggestions?
The first picture was a wide angle shot of the scene taken at 14 mm.
The second shot was a close up shot of the lighthouse taken at 140mm.
The third picture is a 1:1 crop of the second shot.
The final shot was of the horizon just after sunset taken at 14mm.
