I looked but couldn't find a thread for all the "other" parts of the plant kingdom
besides the ever popular flowers and trees.
So I'm starting one.
I hope it finds a receptive and participating audience.
If I am duplicating some other thread, please let me know.
I will retire to my corner.

I'll start off with a couple of my own.
Aloha.

It's not an attempt at true macro photography, it's merely a 'close up'.

Itchybiscuit -

Thanks for helping get things started.
By the way, like your nom-de-plume and your funny sig.
Is that a quote from somewhere?

P.S. Apologies if you actually are an old ex-leper requesting alms.

Aye Stephen, it's from Monty Python's 'Life of Brian' - Michael Palin plays a leper who's been cured by Jesus without 'so much as a by-your-leave', 'ups and cures me!'.

I made up the name myself as an antidote to trying a million and one usernames before one is accepted - Itchy is all over the internets.

Harvey,

Interesting plant - do you perhaps know what it is?

Damn, I didn't realize there would be homework.

I looked through a few books, and I can't come up with a name. The location would be the upper Mojave Desert, if that will help anyone else. The pods look a lot like miniature Tomatillo's, except they are empty.

I found it, it's Mexican Bladder Sage. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scutellaria_mexicana

Ha! Homework! - Crack me up, brah!

Didn't mean to imply responsibility - I certainly don't take any! :p

If I have to identify any of the stuff I photograph,
I'm in deep water . . .

The info I do share I come by accidentally
or look it up out of curiosity, like you mention.

Anyway, thanks for the effort -
and more so, thanks for the laugh! :)
Aloha, Stephen

Oh, and a Big Thanks for contributing to my moribund thread!

I don't know if I've duplicated another location
or if there aren't other weird photogs like me
that like to shoot random plants, weeds
and parts other than flowers and trees.

Or maybe it takes time for awareness of a thread to happen.

It's just a selfish experiment for me, cause I like to shoot that stuff
and would like to have a home for it on the forum.

Anyway,

Cheers,
Stephen

I take lots of plant photos, so I will be adding more. I'm also red /green color blind, so I can't always tell if a photo would be correct for the Show Green thread. Another venue is always good.

Yes, I hadn't thought of that -
I guess Show Green is a venue for these types of photos.

I had interpreted it as more of a thread for the color green generically,
which could include plants obviously,
but also green clothing, lollipops, jello, cars, auroras, etc.

This thread would be more specific to the plant world.
And would include other colors, like red apples for instance.
Or purple plums, or yellow bananas, or little brown poofy things in the desert . . . :p
(Curious - with the red/green thing - what does my first image above look like to you?)

Well, we'll just have to see how it goes . . .
Thanks for contributing.

Cheers,
Stephen

Thanks, Wendy, for coming on board -
though I'm surprised you had anything to show from your garden -
it's such a limited and impoverished plot, as we all know . . . :p
