First, the title is wrong. It's the 12-40mm v/2.8 lens.

I have a strange problem that just cropped up. My PL-5 will not autofocus with the 12-40mm f/2.8 lens. It autofocuses fine with the 45mm and 75mm f/1.7 lenses, but put the 12-40mm zoom on it and it just takes out of focus photos, unless I manually focus it.

I have the feeling I am missing some simple setting, but I sure can't find it.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

Make sure that the focus ring on the lens is in the correct position. If the ring is pulled back it is manual focus. Had the same problem a few months ago and didn't realize it until I had missed one photo opportunity.

Uh.... Never mind. I pushed the focus ring on the lens to the manual focus position. Silly me.

Thanks Chris. I managed to take a feature and turn it into a problem. :-(

I've done this so many times pulling this lens out of a camera bag that after mounting it I, by habit now, check the focusing ring.
