Looks like its is around 2 inches shorter than a Canon 70-200 f.28 and close to the same diameter., maybe a little thinner. I'd make room in my messenger bag for one. :2thumbs:

Beside the cost and availability info, the key unanswered questions are about the IQ through out the zoom range. Especially how it will compare at 300mm with the Olympus 300 Pro and how it will compare at 400mm against the Olympus 300 +TC that would do 420mm. Hopefully we will all know more by the end of Q1 2016.

Regardless of how the comparisons turn out, we will have two options we have not previously had. And that is totally positive!

I am really looking forward to see how well this lens performs too. I bought m43 because I want small and light and this lens is definitely small for one that can trombone out to 400mm. Hopefully it will be light and be great optically too.

While it is rumored to be very expensive I would not be satisfied with a lens that would not perform well with a 24MP body I might own 5 years from now. That kind of resolution does not come cheap. The high pixel density of m43 demands more resolution than larger sensors need.

Well, I'm pretty happy with the current 100-300mm and the 100-400mm will without a doubt be much better optically so I think I'm safe there. I've already dragged my 40-150mm enough to know that the 100-400mm will not be too heavy for the intended use either. My only concern is the price. That's why I've already started saving for it...

It seems to fit well on the GX8.
