January 8 update: Time to vote!

This contest is now closed to entries. Voting will continue until midnight Greenwich Mean Time on January 15, 2011.

Remember, a "Thank" = a vote, and you only get 3 votes.

(So if you have Thanked more than 3 images in this thread, please go back and remove some Thanks!)

The theme for this photo contest is People. Photos submitted to this contest should have a person or persons as subject.

Contest Prizes (in US dollars, payable via PayPal):

  • 1st Place: $100
  • 2nd Place: $50
  • 3rd Place: $25
In the event of a tie, prizes will be divided.

Contest Rules:

  • Participants must be registered members who have made no fewer than 3 sensible posts here at mu-43.com.
  • You may enter a photo now and post later, but both the contest entry and the 3 qualifying posts must be made on or prior to January 8, 2011 (GMT).
  • Only one photo submission per person.
  • You may only enter a photograph which you yourself have made.
  • The photo must have been taken with a Micro Four Thirds camera, and EXIF data should be intact so that this can be verified.
  • Maximum photo dimension must not exceed 1024 pixels.
  • The photo may have been taken at any time.
  • Mu-43.com admins and moderators may compete but are ineligible for prizes (in the event that a mod wins, the prize will go to the next contestant in line).
  • To enter, simply post a photograph in this thread. HTML and code are enabled to make posting as easy as possible. For detailed information about how to post a photo in this or any other thread, see here.

Of course you continue to hold all rights reserved. We have no intention of trying to gain any rights to your photograph. You can remove it from the forums any time.

Contest judging will be through a simple voting process. All registered mu-43.com members with at least 3 posts are eligible to vote. To vote for a particular photo, simply click the [IMG]http://mu-43.com/images/buttons/post_thanks.gif button underneath that particular submission (Note: the

button will not be visible to you unless you have at least 3 posts). It is an "open" voting process; ie, your name will be displayed along with other members who voted for a given entry.
  • Please limit yourself to 3 or fewer votes at the end of the voting period. At any time prior to the end of the voting period, you may add your vote to or withdraw your vote from an entry.
  • Feel free to comment on photos in this thread, but please do not quote the post with image embedded, because that may lead others to accidentally vote for the quote rather than the original entry.

The voting period will end at midnight (GMT) on January 15, 2011.

Can you explain this EXIF data stuff a little more

If I crop or PP images in LR and then post them on here I seem to loose all or part of the EXIF data - is it me or is it the upload?

Cheers

Look at the save options in LR and make sure it is checked to save EXIF, and if you use a different program to make thumbnails, make sure it too will save EXIF..

I do use some programs that strip EXIF data. May I submit an stripped EXIF shot if I have a sooc shot with it intact. I'm more of a manipulator than a shooter.....at least until my shooting gets better.

Olympus EP2 with 1937 Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 5cm F1.5 lens, at F4.

This lens is converted to Leica Thread Mount using a Jupiter-3 focus mount. Leica to u43 adapter used. Focus with EVF. Subject moved during exposure.

Straight out of the camera JPEG, resized using Microsoft Picture Manager.

Yes, go ahead and post your entry. If you win, you can email me the sooc shot.
