Back in March @DeeJayK@DeeJayK started the Equinox Explorations thread https://www.mu-43.com/threads/74700/ to get people posting and pushing boundaries. With the 1st of May now upon us the target date has been reached, but some of us are keen to carry on...

Taking on board comments from other participants let's try a monthly thread along the same lines. Join us for a month, or just a day.

    Copying and pasting the "rules":

    • Try to post a single shot (of ANY subject) taken each day during the challenge. If you miss a day (or a week), don't worry, no one is judging you. The idea here is to get folks out and making pictures, not to play lunchroom monitor.
    • Since this is a :mu43: forum, images shot with :mu43: equipment are encouraged, but this is not strictly a requirement. If you happen to sneak the occasional iPhone, RX100, XT-1 or A7 image in there I doubt the earth will stop spinning on its axis.
    • Images may be straight out of camera JPEGs or manipulated to your heart's content. Pushing yourself past your normal comfort levels is encouraged.
    • Most importantly: HAVE FUN!
    Additionally can I suggest:

    • Please add the date you took the photo and if at all possible, try and post within 48hrs of taking the shot.
    • I like equipment details and find circumstances behind the shot / photographers thoughts interesting, but as with all the "rules" these aren't mandatory!
    -----

    Kicking it off - 1st May - GX7 Pana 20mm - quick lunchtime shot:
    telephone.

  2. I'm definitely in. I've learned so much from the last challenge thread already.

But first I have to share a picture in keeping with ManofKent's photo that I took almost exactly a year ago today.

Royal Naval Dockyards, Bermuda. I sailed from St. Croix to St. Georges, Bermuda last spring. "Bermuda. Entry by sea." is one of my proudest passport stamps. I didn't yet have any weatherproof m4/3 gear, so my Panasonic LX7 filled in (rather well) for travel duty. Gallery here: http://rkstarr.zenfolio.com/p163842425

Took the dogs to a local dog park this afternoon. Chose to take out the E-PM2 + O17 combo in favor of the the E-M1.

Also, decided to give SOOC jpegs a try. No editing here, just camera -> LR -> export. Although, I think some low sharpening was applied during export. That said, I'm amazed at the JPEG quality here. My old Panny GF1 was terrible at JPEGs so this is good.

This was actually the very first shot taken with my newly acquired E-M5 Mk.II as you can tell by the file name "P5010001.jpg" Used the 'grainy film" art filter along with a little post process in Lightroom.

I'll play. Taken May 1st. (Sorry, all out of red phone booths in my area.)

Taken after a rainstorm with my G3 and PL 45 macro. No processing. I liked it best the way it was.

May 2, 2015: No red telephone boxes around here to my knowledge but we have a sun bleached pink one thanks to Telstra.

  12. 5/1: Lignum Vitae flower (Guaiacum officinale) One lone flower on the tree at the moment. Experimenting further with the 60mm macro. Strong setting sunlight made for a bright image not needing flash. There was a stiff tradewind breeze which made a steady capture the most challenging part of capturing this image. I resorted to holding the branch at the optimum angle while holding back another shading branch. Ordinarily I don't do anything artificial with plant subjects but this was the only blossom on the tree and no other way to capture the interesting shape of the stigma and style was apparent. 1/180 f9 200

    Olympus E-P5 | Adapted Kowa 100mm f/1.5 XRay Optic

I live in the boonies, so not a lot of street / urban action around here.
Most of my images will be of the flower / nature shot variety,
but I'll try to mix it up when I can.

And, Rick, I hope holding a branch isn't considered unethical artificial manipulation of nature shots -
if so, I'm in deep doodoo.

Sticking with the Hawaii flower theme - this is from Maui, and was shot with the 4/3 50mm macro on an em-1

Changing the Phonebox and Phlower theme, this one's a bit mysterious (suggestions welcome). I was attracted to the bold design and colour -- which, by the way, is unedited OOC and shot in AWB because the ambient lighting was not one of your standard selections.

Looks like a car light to me, but can't account for the flares if not through a window -
    or maybe a jukebox?
