Have just had a little insurance payment which outs me in the position to buy a 12-35f2.8 and I could also get what I always wanted, a GH3.
Question is, is this still going to be around for a while or is a replacement on the horizon?

I doubt there'll be a replacement in the near future. The GH3 hasn't been on the market that long. In any case, there's always something better potentially on the horizon. If the GH3 does what you need or want then go for it - it's a fantastic camera. Why wait? - you can be taking great shots right now...

Thats a great answer. Yup, by getting itni will have a great setup imho. As I already have the 35-100. So pairing that with the 12-35 & the GH3 should fulfill a lot of my needs.

If you're worried about newer, bigger, better, mu-43 is not for you. There seems to be a replacement for every model every 6 months.
Of course there will be a replacement but it doesn't mean you have to replace. On the other hand, I absolutely loved the OMD but I replaced it with the GH3 . Answer your question?

For $999 is great deal on GH3, the only problem for me is all my lenses are Olympus, I need some great image stabilized zoom lenses from Panasonic.

Go for it now. Good price available and the GH series has much longer time between replacement that most (all?) Mu43 bodies.

Panasonic m43 bodies tend to lose their value pretty quickly so I am looking to pick up a GH3 as soon as it falls down significantly from its current price which IMHO is too much, especially considering that a GX1 which even though not as good as the GH3, is not 3 times as bad as the price seems to suggest.

But that's just me. If you need a MFT camera today, GH3 is the absolutely best that money can buy which makes the high price irrelevant and even if it gets superseded by something better it wont stop stop taking good photos and video.

Define "a while" and "on the horizon". My guess is that it will be around until next year and that the price will erode gradually.

In the UK, they are doing an offer of a free battery grip if bought before 2nd Sept. At £871, it's awfully tempting - although Digital Rev are doing them £759 body only at the moment, which erodes half the value of the grip.... I suspect that it will take a while to come down by £200 (I definitely want the grip with it).

What camera are you using at the moment with the 35-100?

Was that aimed at me? A G5.

It is fine - just I have large hands and the GH3 + grip fits very, very nicely - whatever sized lens I am using. I also don't like the G5s push thumb dial. I find it WAY too easy to knock and can't reliably change aperture - I end up changing exposure compensation almost every time I touch it....

And I caved and my GH3 will arrive tomorrow. £880 delivered plus a free battery grip (which I really like). Back to a decent sized camera with small lenses :D

    You will love it.

Only issue I had was the evf was fuzzy using my left eye - switched to right eye and perfect. Weird I know. ANd I do not wear glasses.

Perhaps you need to adjust the diopter.

The EVF has a knoiwn "fuzzy issue". I tested one in store, and the handling of the camera won over the fuzzy corners.

Well, have took the plunge and ordered the GH3 along with the 12-35 and should hopefully be here tomorrow. Will also be able to claim the battery grip too which is a bonus. Can't wait :D

GH3 is a solid camera, ticks a lot of boxes for me. Plus when you pair it with 12-35 and 35-100, the handling is just about perfect. Congrats. Why wait.
