Showcase Pentax 50mm f/1.4 Super Takumar M42

My Super-Takumar 50mm f/1.4 was the first manual focus lens I acquired and it's my favorite out of the collection, with my M39 mount Jupiter-9 85mm f/2 coming in a close second.

Just picked up a very clean one mounted on a non-working but also very clean Honeywell Pentax H1a. $6 at the Goodwill. Will be interesting to compare with my current favorite Minolta Rokkor-X 50mm f/1.4.

Took it out for a spin this morning. Couple of test shots. The Canada Geese shot is cropped very tightly, but still pretty sharp.

Just received a very clean and nice copy of a 7-element Super Takumar 50mm/1.4. It is my first vintage lens (since shooting 35mm film back in the 90's, when the lenses were just a little old, not "vintage"). Taking it for a walk around the block with a Fotodiox adapter on my OM-D was fun - focus peaking would be nice, but I mapped the MF Magnify to the Fn2 button, and that helped quite a bit.

I'm very pleased with the quality of the lens - the focusing ring is responsive and easy to use, the lens has only very slight yellowing which the auto white balance compensates for nicely, and the bokeh is quite good. I'll be keeping it!
