Skim reading those reviews it seems the consensus is that its not really an upgrade as an imaging toolto th e-m1/5 as an imaging tool. It would only appeal to the people who likethe aestheticss, and at £999 it would seem crazy to buy it. Iwould say this will fall very rapidly in price.

I think dpreview has got the dimensioncomparisation a bit wrong, P5 is not bigger than a M5II.

Yes, same impression for me, and I really don't know who tends to use these in camera filters a lot, don't know anybody using them.

According to Steve Huff's review, he found the new dial pretty useful:

"...what sealed the deal for me was the COLOR DIAL allowing me to go from slide film like color to gorgeous Monochrome or even neutral if I so desired."

Ming Thein classifies it as a "JPEG shooter's camera". Damning praise indeed! His view of the front "colour" dial? - it makes the grip uncomfortable.

The only mention of the battery I've seen is at DPR; they say it's the BLN-1 (Same as E-M5 and E-M1, etc.)

A few things look tantalizing to me:
    1. 'C' positions on the mode dial; hopefully they work better than the E-M1's mysets system (which has button issues if you map a myset to a dial mode).

    2. EC dial - this should solve the issue of no EC in Manual mode (with auto-ISO) on older models.
Also, I saw a complaint today that the E-M1 has no EC in video mode; maybe this will?

    3. The art dial seems slightly interesting, mainly because I never can remember how to quickly turn on either of the 2 B&W modes on my E-M1; they are in 2 different places. I always shoot RAW anyways, but being able to view in B&W is useful to me. I probably just need to memorize where the settings are.
Someone mentioned hoping that the art dial could be remapped to switch AF modes... that would be very useful.

It seems like the lever on the back won't be able to be used like the '2x2' lever on the E-M1; that's unfortunate as I use that to toggle AF/MF, but maybe it's less important for a travel/street camera than it is when shooting wildlife (with a big lens and a body with a grip).

I'm wondering if the new B&W and Film modes will be available for ORF files from other Olympus cameras in Olympus Viewer (still v3?).

I'm not really planning on getting the Pen F unless I start traveling more for work (and can budget for a new camera), and even then, I'd have to see if it's small enough to make a difference over my E-M1 (which I currently travel with).

I'm with you on that. I'm sure the F is a fine camera, but I can't see any reason why I would buy it except for the VF. It would need to cost less than half of current price for me to be interested. Seriously Oly, add this VF to the E-P5 and at least make it hard for me not to spend my money.

Who am I kidding? This camera looks very sweet. It looks like a refined version of Fujifilm X-E2/X-E2s, which is now the second-best looking mirrorless camera out there

However, I suspect the on/off switch is uncomfortable. The front knob also looks awkwardly located. And for me personally it will be of no use, because I never shoot JPEGs...

The price should drop fairly rapidly. If it does then it becomes a sensible option. The E-P5 was a crazy price when it was first released but I just bagged myself a minter complete with VF-4 for £279. That's more like it!

It's interesting that most reviews comment on the price being too high. The good news is that Olympus can fix that if they want. Like the EM5II, it will drop to $999 pretty quickly. Given Olympus' usual QC, there will be refurbs available. Then the 20% off refurbs sale. You could get an EM5 II refurb for under $600 wiht this combination.

The OlyLeica for the crayon hipster set.

It looks nice, I'm sure it can take great pictures. It's not for me though.

Jamie M and Mike B said briefly in the beginning of their review that the IQ and low-light capability is better but then didn't get back to details for 3/4 of the review during which I fell asleep.

What's the consensus on the new sensor? ...on the AF?

Interesting, Mathieu of Mirrorlessons said in the comments to his review that he did not have a fully working PEN F. I wonder if the initial reviews are based on pre-production models?

Ming Thein also said, "Unfortunately, despite the solidness of the construction, the body is not weather sealed at all – there are no visible gaskets on any of the port or compartment covers, so you would be well advised to keep it away from rain."
Seriously? for a street/travel camera? I was about to ask folks here whether I should wait for the OMD-1 MII or jump at this new Pen-F but if it's not weather sealed it's not much better in the elements than my present D700 is it?
Ming Thein also suggests the OMD-5 MII is also a better video performer? That would be another Pen-F killer for me.Just itching to make the jump to Olympus for my travel photo/video needs... hope to see a 1-MII soon for comparison.
