Pany software correction for lens aberrations?

Discussion in 'Native Lenses' started by noelh, Jun 2, 2011.

  1. Does the camera software only correct lens aberrations for what you see in live view and any jpeg images created? If so, do any of the RAW converters that support the G line of camera bodies have "auto" correction for any lens aberrations?

Is this software lens correction feature limited to just Lumix G lens?

Yes, the software correction is applied during the jpg creation for both distortion and chromatic aberration.

Silkypix and Adobe do it during RAW conversion also.

Distortion correction is part of the micro 43 standard, and is applied to all Olympus lenses as well. Oly does not take advantage of CA correction.

Leica lenses (the 45 macro) apply CA correction, but are designed not to need distortion correction
