    The battery division is what Panasonic really wanted from Sanyo. The article is correct in that compact, point-and-shoot digicams, which Sanyo makes for a number of companies including Olympus, are having their lunch eaten by smartphone cameras. I think it's a prudent move by Panasonic to get out of that market.

    Yes.... compact P&S cameras are suffering the same/similar fate of PDAs.
