Panasonic S5 (-$300) & S Lenses (-$200)

Aug 3, 2015
Real Name
In the United States for the rest of April, Panasonic is running a promotion on the S5 camera body ($1,699) and 20-60mm kit ($1,999), which are both $300 off MSRP. Additionally, all Panasonic S series lenses are each $200 off MSRP if purchased at the same time in a bundle (for example the 85mm f1.8 prime becomes $399).

While I certainly do not mean to cause any GAS, nor to imply anyone should make the jump from m43 to L mount (I absolutely love my m43 system and will continue to have a kit of m43 gear, which I have done since 2012), the S5 is an amazing body that is an easy transition from a GH5 or G9 (which were in a similar price range to the S5 when newly released). And the 20-60mm is my all time favorite kit zoom with a super practical focal range. I found it to be as sharp as (maybe even sharper than?) my (now former) Panasonic Leica 8-18mm ultra wide zoom at equivalent focal lengths and apertures.

I think an S5, the 20-60mm kit zoom, the 50mm f1.8 (anticipated at $599 MSRP later this year), and the 85mm f1.8 would make for a stellar, reasonably priced, reasonably small full frame L Mount kit to complement an even smaller m43 kit (especially a set of tiny primes and zooms like the 35-100mm f2.8 and the 100-300mm).
