If this is true, it could prove to be a formidable "compact"....
Why they would put such a long focal length zoom on it? A wider/shorter zoom would surely have been far more practical.
If panasonic manage to make this thing compact-ish....say no larger than a Sony RX1 AND manage to put a 12-37/f1.7-2.8 zoom on it (plus all the other goodies...EVF, touch screen, top video, IBIS/IOS, wifi, fast and silent shutter.....then SNAP! Quite possibly THE perfect compact all-rounder IMO.
Count me in(I can only assume the 24-75 is with 2x crop factor....so an m43 12-37)
For one, I'm interested in the longer zoom. It's one of the reasons I don't buy fixed lens compacts like the rx100.
if this new camera is very compact, then panasonic needs to worry about gm1 or the new gm5 sales.
the LC1 design is very nice so that would be great!!
I wouldn't worry about the GM1 because you can't switch lenses on the LX1000.
If anything, Panasonic are way overdue for such a camera.
...and now it has a multi aspect sensor and smaller than the canon g1xii....this is starting to sound TOO good to be true.
Unless the rumor is misquoting the actual specs and it's a 24-75mm equivalent lens (some compacts are quoted that way) which would make the real focal length of the lens 12-37.5mm (which seems more reasonable).
And that aperture? I'd be shocked if the lens is more compact than the 25mm Summilux. Can't wait for Monday.
I'll be impressed if the lens is smaller than the Pany 12-35.
I reckon that's FF equivalent....
MMmmmm I like. I've always like Panasonic's P&S starting from the LX3. This LX100 (I don't like that naming convention) would be very interesting to me.
Major appeal! Go Pany.
Oops, you're right.
Sounds promising, but it won't be cheap if it does all that in a compact package.
Personally, I can't wait to hear all about the rumoured GM5.
Seems panasonic are getting the small form factor right and video. Olympus does a selfie update...it does seem olympus is a bit lost...
Kind of wondering about the rumored "GM-5" now....if this thing is compact enough, then I agree with Livnius: possibly the perfect, small all-arounder. I would buy one in a heartbeat.
If it's equivalent, then it makes sense.
Actual focal length is 10.9–34mm so it is actually a 2.2x crop due to the 16mp sensor being used as a mult-aspect sensor. And remember that 16:9 would be closer to 22-70mm equivalent due to the multi-aspect.
I have high hopes for the LX100. I just hope it isn't too big. I'm kind of expecting it to be about the size of the GX1 with, say, the 20mm f/1.7 on it, at least with the lens withdrawn or at its widest focal length. The LX100 just might prevent me from buying a Fuji X100t or X-E2.
