I want to get a lens cap for my Panasonic 45-175mm lens H-PS45-175PPK. Not to fit the lens but to fit the end of the stock lens hood. Can anyone help me with the correct diameter? The reason I am asking is that I find it much easier to attach/detach lens caps when I don't have to reach inside the hood.

Look at this photo of my 60 macro metal hood that I got a pinch-type cap to fit. This is what I want to do with the non-petal hood on the 45-175. If not possible then I think the hood hat is a great idea.

I love hood hats.

i have never seen a lens cap put on that way. Does it stay on?
