Love the pics, but you brought an E-M1X/10-25mm f1.7 to dinner? uhh.. you certainly take your meal time snapshots seriously

Bad light, everyone situated in the wrong direction, but it was fun. Tried out the 10-25mm and the Outex Dome today. The water was way too murky for split shots.

I wanted to go back to try this shot with a tripod, but unfortunately my 10-25mm has gotten stuck at the long end. (no, it wasn't dropped) Anyway, here are some sunstars / starbursts from the 10-25mm.

Really nice selection of photographs, Swifty. Like both the color and B&W. Do you find any deficiencies optically? Aperture sweet spots? Samples online indicate it is darn good even wide-open - your thoughts? Thanks for posting your images - very helpful and inspiring.

Thanks for the kind comment.
Optically I think it's really the lens's strength and there's very little for me to complain about. In fact, I use it at any aperture and focal length without a care and really only considering the settings for DOF and exposure purposes.
Having said that, I'm not a landscape or architectural specialist and so my threshold for corner sharpness might not be at the same bar. If there was a complaint, I think the extreme corners at 10mm are weaker comparatively but 10mm on a standard zoom is extremely useful though. There's a bit of noticeable barrel distortion there too that I do feel an OCD-ness need to correct in post.
In terms of sweet spot, I consider it pretty sweet from wide open, perhaps with only a slight loss of contrast. By f/2-f/2.8 I think it's already peaking although I've not done any formal testing.
CA is practically non-existent and easy to correct in the few instances I do spot it.

I think it's weakness relates moreso to other factors such as bulk (not weight though IMO) and price. The hood doesn't really do much against the elements but that's understandable given the wide focal length.

Bear in mind I use the lens mainly for travel and family shots so my opinions are based on these uses. I think the size would be a non-issue for an event-shooter for example, as oppose to me trying to wrangle children or pack small for a trip.

If the lens were 100-200 grams lighter I wouldn't be able to resist it. Now I've managed to fight the urge to buy one for months already. But we'll see if I will win or lose this battle in the end... :D

Very helpful! Thanks for information. I am near buying but hoping to see a sale price on it in the near future. Maybe just a matter of time? :)
