Oh dear, does Christchurch really look like Hokitika?

Repurposed building that had earthquake damage I think.
Ha. Just had that backpackerish look to it, that Hokitika seems to have. With the coastal plants as well. I stayed a couple of nights just put of town at the Woodstock hotel, where the older locals seem to congregate, and it just reminded me of the town centre a bit :)

I just rented it for 24 hours to do a real estate contract tonight, I took my lunch hour for a quick photo of the biggest building I could find around here :

Out of curiosity, if you're renting anyway, for real estate why not the wider 7-14s?
I thought the 8-18 was going to have less distortion and less of the fisheye effect.

In Colorado for vacation. Weather was not great this afternoon, but we headed out anyway. Headed for a park we had been to before, but the parking lot was full so we turned around. I made a wrong turn coming out of the parking lot, so we decided to just keep going and see where we ended up. Stumbled across this little area.
I only have my Surface Go tablet with me so I'm not sure how these will turn out. Just some basic editing in LR.

I'm pretty sure the 7-14s are just as rectilinear as the 8-18. Like most UWAs, the 8-18mm still suffers from a little barrel distortion at the wide end anyway, requiring a little manual correction in PP. If the perspective distortion is too extreme at 7mm, you can always just use a longer focal length (e.g. 8mm).

Yes the extra millimeter at 7mm would have been useful. But the store only had the 8-18 for rental (it cost me 20$ for 24 hours). I never had anything wider than the 12-60 kit lens.
