I purchased this lens because I was always changing between the 12-35 and the 35-100, and I'm very glad I did. The lens is very versatile, I have no complaints at all about the IQ, and I don't change lenses very much anymore when using zooms . These were taken yesterday, using focal lengths through the entire range of 12-60mm. Specs of snowflakes in all of them!

I'm surprised that the sample image thread here is not larger. It seems to be a ripper lens, lovely colour & contrast, plenty sharp throughout the zoom range, very handy & versatile focal length range, & very reasonably priced. I've already got way too many lenses, & I'm even eyeing one off, as a weather sealed holiday/travel lens to partner my PL8-18 & G9. Perhaps the cheaper Lumix version is hurting the appeal?

I first tried the Lumix 12-60mm before finally purchasing the PL version. The Lumix is a very good kit lens. The copy I tried was very good at the wide end, but above 35mm the IQ dropped off. It wasn't bad by any means, but I was already used to the IQ of the 35-100 f/2.8, and the Panasonic 12-60 couldn't compare. I found I was always shooting it at f/8 in this range for best sharpness across the frame. In comparison, my copy of the PL 12-60 compares quite favorably to my 35-100 in the overlapping range.

BTW, for me, "image quality" is more than just sharpness (indeed, I often process images to look more like film, and less "digital"). I like the "look" of the PL 12-60 images better than the Lumix 12-60, and better than the Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 that it replaced.

Just popping in, after a long absence, to say "hi".

Still to this day, my GX8 and 12-60 f/2.8-4 remain my #1 image making pair. Incredibly great camera AND lens. Wonderful image quality and versatile focal length range from this combo. (My 12-35/2.8 sees pretty much no use these days, great as it is!)

Recently made a stitched pano from the back patio, GX8 and 12-60 f/2.8-4
