I'll normally use this lens from a tripod but wanted to see if it was possible to use it handheld. I am happy with this lens, but it is going to take some practice for fast BIF's like ducks hand held (for me at least).

I forgot to add that these were handheld in 40 MPH+ winds.

Fantastic outing with your new lens.

What camera was the lens on? I have ordered one to use on my GX8.

Yep, Gx8 - unbelievable camera IMHO. I keep the 12-35mmm on one and the 100-400 on the other (which works great for macro also).

Nice stuff, thanks for sharing. Good variety – allows us to confirm the high IQ as well as some minor shortfalls (all lenses have them we just need to know them for greater success)

Yes, I just wish the zoom was not so stiff (from the heavy extending or perhaps its the sealing), but in a year or so I'll probably fondly remember that:)

Thanks for the reply. Now I know what to look forward to when my lens arrives this coming week. Can't wait to get over to the Outer Banks of N. Carolina with it.

My copy of the Panasonic 100-400 arrived this week. Here's some of the first images. All shot with either the Olympus E-M5 II, or E-M1.

Today I tried the 100-400 on my E-M1 for some close work on lizards, flowers, etc. So far I have found that I like to shoot it .7 under. Most of these are at ISO 640, F/7.1 or F/8. I tried at F/6.3 but the DOF was too skinny when shooting at 364mm or 400mm at close range. All hand held.
These images have some cropping.

Impressive. I have been using my em1 and 75-300 II hand held and wished I had a longer reach a lot of times.
What is your normal tripod setup with this lens and gx8?

Thank you. This was handheld @ 400mm with the Gx8. I do also use a Manfrotto O55 CF legs (3 section) and an 501 HD video head (worked very well with a D7100/300mm/Tc1.7).

Some P100-400 action shots from the Olympic Pentathlon Trials (also posted in the Native Lens forum)

These were all shot with the Olympus E-M1, Large Superfine JPEGS at ISO 640, F/7.1, 0 exp. comp. Most of these were shot at 100-150mm and cropped. The C-AF of the E-M1 worked better at those focal lengths than trying to shoot at longer focal length. Range was at about 40-80 yds. Lens OIS was used
