If you are close enough, sometimes you can get more detail by using the middle of the zoom range where the lens is sharper and cropping.

Just a couple I already posted in birds but thought it would be good to have them here. I have never regretted getting this lens since day one. Good technique and knowing what the limits are (as with any long lens) can bring about images that are entirely "good enough" for me. Take a look at the shutters speeds, ISO, and focal lengths - I don't see much difference between the short end and long end of the zoom.

My lens arrived today and I took it out into the field behind my house for some quick inaugural shots. Unable to have seen one in person, I was pleasantly surprised at the size and weight. Biggest lens I have but not overbearing to handle.

I'd love to see a 400mm F4 from Panasonic, with an emphasis on lightweight materials (ABS maybe instead of metal).

You just happen to have White Tail deer in your backyard? Nice.

All of these were shot at relatively high ISOs, and then I applied Topaz denoise AI. It makes a huge difference!
