I made a separate post with the best from today's shoot, but wanted to share a few here. This lens can really be sharp, even at 400mm. Hidden Lake Forest Preserve was a birder's goldmine today!

Couple flowers, a limpkin (crossposted to Share Birds), and a marsh rabbit.

Looks like I get two Saturday AM posts in a row!
Dragonflies were everywhere this morning. Now that I go a little earlier in the day, the marsh rabbits are still out. There are also something that takes off running every time I walk by, but it's so small I can't tell what it is. Looks like a mouse.

  10. Nice. It appears the bird has some nylon fishing line entangled around it's right claw.

An afternoon at Lincoln Marsh. It was midday, so the light was not ideal, but still a great day for photos!

I was lucky enough yesterday to shoot about 200 images of a fight between a large female Bald Eagle and Blue Heron - I was testing focusing patterns on the g9/100-400 combo and was using electronic shutter to keep the shutter count down. Will work on doing a chronological listing of the best 10 or so of the battle (it got a bit brutal but I won't spoil the ending:popcorm2:) . This image was taken about 500' from the fight:

    I love the PL100-400 G9 combo.

While I often go "out" to images birds, a friend after hearing of the species I get at my feeders (including a very persistent Coopers Hawk), said that I should get a blind and image. Well for the front feeder I just put the cats (indoor only) in another room and shoot from a window now. Here is a Common House Finch in breeding splendor:

Not a very exciting subject lol, but I finally saw one of the little Marsh Rats that are always scattering into the brush when I walk by.
