I've only recently started to try bird photography.
These images are with the G9, and are the first Kingfisher I have seen in the wild.
Not fantastic images, but I was so chuffed to be able to take them!

found out another new trick with the lens and G80/85 yesterday ,I noticed a spider making a web a few feet away and due to a messy background I couldn't achieve a focus lock .so I put the lens into manual focus mode for the first time ,WOW the image through the viewfinder gets magnified leading to very precise focus ,I feel at times I might have lost a bit with birds in flight with this combo but the other little tricks more than make up for it ,have now also bought a siriu c/f monopod with feet and fitted my jobu junior gimbal head to it a match made in heaven

Because I started this thread, I feel the need to explain to those visiting that Panasonic will not repair this lens after the warranty expires, they will take your lens and charge you for a refurbished lens. The best way to get this lens is to purchase from Hong Kong and then get professional insurance for about $35 a year on it.

How many claims would one be able to submit before insurance company drops you though? Seems to me insurance is no replacement for availability of reasonably priced repair services.

It's not but at least it guarantees you one replacement in say 10 years for a reasonable cost.
