Panasonic in-camera B&W better than Olympus?

Switching from Panasonic GX7 to Olympus EM5II, I find that in-camera black and white on Olympus is not as good as the contrasty B&W from Panasonic. I didn't do anything special in Panasonic apart from cranking up the contrast in JPEG settings. The same approach in Olympus menus does not seem to produce photos with same kind of immediate "wow" impact as on Panasonic. I didn't really think the B&W from the special modes in Olympus was great either.
Is Panasonic just better with B&W? I am curious what other people who used both brands think :)

Try "low" graduation in the mono mode (and contrast boost) and play with the highlight/shadow curve tool (+ 1 or 2 highlights, -2 or 3 shadows)

You can also try different color filters (not the blue/sepia, the one right on the left) from the SCP in Monotone mode or the Art modes (grainy and dramatic, quite extreme for me). Never used Pana for B&W so I cannot comment on that.
