Panasonic GX7 Dead Autofocus Assist Lamp ?

    So I don't normally use the Autofocus Assist lamp because its very bright and distracting for subjects, specially in low light. But when I did used it a bit our of necessity: low light (artificial light) and moving subject (my little niece) and I noticed that she was squinting and realized she was blinded by the Autofocus Assist Lamp by flashing fast in her face. I never seen a camera do that (I also owned a Panasonic G1 and G2 and a Pentax K200D). And I don't remember my GX7 do that when I bought it almost a year ago. I don't know if it helps but using either Mechanical or Electronic shutter doesn't change the problem.

    Is the Autofocus Assist Lamp dying or is it a bug? I have tried to look for an option or a feature in the Menu to change the way it works but I only find ON/OFF function.
