    From 43Rumors:

    http://www.43rumors.com/ft4-gm1-has-gx7-sensor/

The GM1 is going to be announced next week (October 17). And these are some of the cameras features:

•Same GX7 image processing engine and sensor
    •built-in Wi-Fi
    •Touch panel
•New 12-32mm lens has about the same size as a 14mm f/2.5 lens
•Body quality is very high (like the GX7)
•Size is as small as the Panasonic LF1 or Sony RX100

Sounds delicious. If the lens is decently fast f2-ish at widest aperture and optically decent, Panasonic will sell a boatload (or 3). Even if it's the usual f3.5-5.6, it sounds pretty good!

I am no marketing genius, but this to me would be a fantastic step from Panasonic. It would be a very smart way to get to the very top, instantly in that segment.

The fulltime electronic shutter concerns me a bit though, I'm looking forward to this!

It would be ironic that a Panasonic ~$500-600 point and shoot would have a better sensor in it than the GH3, their flagship $1300 Mirrorless System Interchangeable Lens body

Now if the size is as small somewhere in the dimensions of a Ricoh GR, then fitted with one of the those pancakes - 14 or 20, or the Oly 15, that will be really interesting.

I think there are mixed signals on this bit. Another rumour said it was not a fulltime electronic shutter, but something different.

It's got a fixed 12-35mm lens. It's not an interchangeable lens camera.

If you look at raw comparisons, there's really no difference between the GX7, GH3, EM-5 and EM-1 in terms of IQ. So the GM one might equal the GH3 in IQ, but it's unlikely to be better. And Oly's been including the same sensor in all models for a long time.

No one who needs the capabilities of a GH3 is going to cross-shop a GM1.

    Wrong

Aside from the fact that no one really knows anything yet, you're completely wrong about the rumors. The rumor is that it will come with a 12-32 (not 35) interchangeable lens in m43 mount.

My guess, and that's all it is, is that this camera will have a electronic first curtain and a mechanical 'second' curtain. That would allow them to cut the cost of the shutter way down, by completely eliminating the first curtain and the mechanism to drive it. It would probably be the first "single" curtain focal plane shutter in history.

I've read that it's an ILC, not fixed lens, and it's 12-32mm.

Panasonic themselves state that the GX7 sensor outperforms the one on the GH3 in still photo applications in terms of noise and DR. It's one thing to have the same sensor across models - it's unusual to have the flagship lag the low end.

I think Panasonic is aiming for the GM1 to be a 'mini' flagship. Very high build quality, top sensor, super small.

If it's an ILC it will be interesting to see how it's positioned alongside the recently released GX7.

If it's a fixed lens 12-32, I wonder how fast it will be, considering how big the 12-35 f2.8 is...

That's the perfect focal length range on a fixed zoom pocket camera for me! And if it is interchangeable, so much the better. 12-32 rocks for what I like to shoot. Give it the IQ of the GX7, being pocketable, and all I can say is WOW... I will buy one!

Pany is rockin' the m43 world in a great way these days.

I think it looks like a fixed lens, 12-32 f/2.0-5.9, slow

Edit: Sorry, that picture is an LF1, my mistake
