The Performance of this cheap lense is impressive...
This is shot against the sun at F1.7
No further processing, only converted the raw file with lightroom with default settings...

I'm looking at getting one of these and was looking for some image samples. Thanks! Also was this shot on Olympus or Panasonic body? Wondering if the purple fringing (CA) is as present on the 25mm 1.7 and Oly body as it's been shown on the PL 25mm 1.4 with Oly body.

Hi,

the Body used was the Olympus e-m5ii. Purple fringing sometimes is present , but only very very little. I checked the jpgs, but the raws too. As I know Olympus bodys do not correct Panasonic lenses.

Hi,

I'm new to the forum.

I'm primarily a Sony shooter but I recently bought a m4/3 system because I needed a lightweight kit for casual travels. It turns out that I'm liking the results so much that I'm using my Oly E-M10 more and more :)

Ok, back to the Pana 25. I'd sum up my main impressions like this: it is a really sharp lens, corner to corner, at basically every aperture. But it has a ton of CA - even after the automatic Lightroom correction - up to f/2.8 if there are high contrast areas in the pictures, even in the bokeh (both purple and green fringing). Moreover it doesn't handle flare very well at all, except once in a blue moon (like in the 2nd picture below).

BTW, if you're interested you can see more examples, download a full size shot at f/1.7 and read my full review of the 25 on my blog:

Torn!...does render very similar looking to the P20..which I just re-ordered...it has that magic quality by the look of it.
Re-purchased the 20mm due to size... FOV and the best images I ever took were from the P20 over the last 5 years!
Otherwise I would be all over this lens.

any comparisons against the PL25 1.4?
gut feeling is that this lens isn't as high contrast as the 1.4

I agree that contrast lower than PL25...To me looks just like the rendering from the P20...cold blueish and clinically sharp!
contrast and colour can always be boosted...love my 20mm
