    Hi
I am coming from SLR world and really like the DMC-G6 design and form factor. I have the OM-D and find it cumbersome to use.

I am vary about the image quality of the G6 vs the OM-D. Can we have a thread dedicated to the G6 samples with various lenses? Please post what lens you used.

    Hi Ketan

welcome here, as a member here for over a year, I've seen a lot of SLR users joining us, which is encouraging, and I like the handling of Lumix G models too.

Just searched and haven't found the G6 image thread yet, which should appear soon as usual. but if you're asking about image quality, G6, shares the same sensor is supposed to act quite similar to G5 and the image thread is here https://www.mu-43.com/f43/official-lumix-g5-image-thread-31646/

recent Olympus models equipped with Sony sensors are producing more pleasing high ISO shots with better S/N and DR, apart from that cameras from P and O also differ by their unique rendering. you may take a look at some olympus camera image threads too. hope you enjoy here.

I bought a G6 today, so I'll post some images when i have had a chance to upgrade Lightroom and do some shooting. I expect that the G6 will complement my GX1 well.

Before I got the GX1 I was a long time Canon 5D user.

I tried the OM-D out in the shop, and really disliked the ergonomics and handling. In contrast, the G6 fits my hand like a glove. I did pause to think about the older sensor design, but I think it will be "good enough" for my purposes.

Wonderful photos Simon. I just ordered a G6 and look forward to using it in tandem with my G5.

Fantastic set of images but that Sea Eagle is something else, well done.

I like the G6 form factor a lot, but I do wish that it had the option of a battery grip. I usually don't have the second piece of the HLD-6 on for normal use, but when I'm shooting sports with the 35-100mm, I like the extra weight for balance and extra grip area for my bottom fingers. Canon offers them for their Rebel T#i bodies, so it wouldn't be too unusual for Panasonic to offer one for the G6. Obviously, there's the option for the GH3, but that's another big step up in cost (even more so in a few months when the GH3 price hasn't moved, but the G6's will have dropped $200 or so; see current G5 deals for $239, for example.)

Thanks Gilly. It's a great camera. I use it in conjunction with a GH2.

    Cheers,

    Simon.

I'm looking for a DSLR-style complement for my GX-1 as I'm slowly phasing out my Pentax kit to a bare minimum (and possibly completely at some point). While the GX-7 looks like a really nice piece of gear, I think I like something either beefier in feel (G6) or small and portable (GX-1); not to mention, of course, the cost of the GX-7!

Anyone else in the same bind?

Thanks....painting those is my winter hobby, for when it is to cold, wet and miserable to go out and take photos.
