From February of this year, a write up in 'Image Sensor World' features what is termed as a radical development from Panasonic... saying that the company 'announces that it has found the holy grail of color image sensors design - the way to implement the color separation with no losses' by 'unblocking' incoming light and controlling its diffraction at a microscopic level.

I stumbled upon this article as I was searching for discussions online about colour bleed on sensors.. and issue that perplexes me every time I shoot.

I think we are still at the earliest stages of intelligent sensor design and I expect some big leaps forward in the coming decade. I also expect that small camera formats like ours will be the main beneficiary of these advancements.. large camera will disappear like the dinosaurs as technology moves forward.
