More then I bargained for...

I shot a couple of pictures on the 1st of a small clump of Iris reticulata we have in our front yard, using my 45-200 and was not overly thrilled with the sharpness I saw, or rather didn't see. Then it dawned on me that I had overlooked to switch off the IS on the lens and figured I'd better do another couple of shots the next morning. Not only was the overall sharpness substantially better, I also got the bonus of some fresh precipitation on them. This was shot on an old Minolta TR1 table top tripod at about F11 and manual focus, using a quick conversion of the RAW file in Silkypix and knock back the exposure value by about 2/3 of stop to increase the overall colour saturation.

It certainly is one nice lens and I have yet to give mine a serious workout - off to the sun in 10 days so will definately try it there.

I know I could tripod mount it but I have been too lazy/busy!

Anybody use this lens on an Oly EP-2? The range is fantastic, the image quality is good and the price is right, but I'm wondering about the handling on a cam other than G1/GH1?

Uh oh... I may have to lock my checkbook, etc., away... Have you reviewed this lens yet on our new Reviews forum, yet? Hint-hint.

I keep forgetting to look over there. I am going to have to slowly but surely research a bit more. I know that I really want a fast wide angle but this 45-200mm looks to be a very nice lens to have in the fold. So many lenses and cameras, so little extra funds to spend!

Hi again, BBW,

I for myself have decided not to spend money on cameras for some time.
I'm happy with my G1 as a sensor platform, and don't think that another body (camera body, that is ) would give me more or other possibilities.

So, I spend the available money on lenses.
I just bought something VERY BIG, but that must remain undisclosed until delivery

I've been resisting adding this lens. But somehow I was able to push myself into a 7-14mm recently (so recently, I have nothing to show from it yet!). After dropping $999.95 for the 7-14, the cost of the 45-200 seems downright mild. But its still not exactly "cheap". Hope to see more images here shot at 200, just 'cause that'll convince me more. ;-)

Two from today with the GH1 and 45-200:

The first was taken at 200mm, the second at 175mm. It still amazes me that we can get that much telephoto and image quality in such a small form.
Wow some of the best I have seen of this lens nice work

Loving the 45-200

I am delighted with this lens.
When I first purchased this lens I had my doubts about having purchased it and did not use it much. I took it to Dubai on our recent trip with the intention of using it more...............little did I know, I would take 90% of my Dubai images with this lens and can now openly proclaim my delight with it in every respect - thank you Panasonic!

Here are a few examples from the post on my blogsite:
