As far as I know the optical quality on the Panasonic 35-100 2.8 is the same on both versions. Only difference is that version 2 can sync IS with IBIS.

True? False?

False.
  • The optical design is the same in both versions.
  • V1 is splash and dust resistant, the V2 adds freeze resistance.
  • Both can synchronise IS with IBIS, but V1 only has dual-IS V1 (enabled by the latest lens firmware), the V2 has improved dual-IS V2.
  • V1 has a shiny dark metallic purple outer finish, V2 is matte black.

This isn't clear. There's a dual-IS version 1 and 2?

Sorry but it still isn't clear. Unless I am to assume that the operation will be the same.
The table shows which lenses support which version of Dual IS. Dual IS 2 is better, and only the V2 lens supports Dual IS 2. The V1 lens supports the earlier Dual IS which is superior to Power OIS but inferior to Dual IS 2.

The performance of Dual I.S. 2 is very good and definitely a noticeable improvement over the original Dual I.S. or O.I.S system.
