My wife and I bought the GF1 and 20mm pancake lens recently as a light weight and pocketable alternative to all of our Nikon DSLR gear, which is too heavy and bulky to constantly carry with us. We also hoped that it would serve as a digital replacement for the Leica M7 we previously owned and loved for street photography. While its not quite a Leica (and I can't afford the M9, yet), my wife is currently leading a photo workshop in NYC and she sent me this photo yesterday morning. Candid subway shots can be tough - bad lighting, hard not to be noticed, etc. I think this shot is evidence that the combination of the GF1 and the 20mm pancake makes for a terrific street photograpy tool. Here's hopefully a larger version (I'm having a bit of a challenge managing attachment sizes) - ChrisAZ

Hey Cy88. I'm sure glad you got yourself the lens, what magnificent pictures! I love the candid shot of the girl, she's so pretty. And the way you have taken it on an angle made me tip my head and look closer. Well done.

Thanks!! I love this lens, it's very close to what I normally walk around with - Canon 5D + 35L, except more than 1/2 the size!

A few shots to share:

CY88 I love the 2nd shot above!

1. Shot through a window, hence why the focus (auto) isn't spot on

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/48075884@N02/4513638908/" title="P1000340_2 by vincechu89, on Flickr"> View attachment 143928 "375" height="500" alt="P1000340_2" /></a>

2. Somehow the blue doesn't quite look right to me, too saturated?

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/48075884@N02/4513631308/" title="Untitled by vincechu89, on Flickr"> View attachment 151829 "500" height="375" alt="" /></a>

3. Love the bokeh the 20mm gives

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/48075884@N02/4512984449/" title="P1000220_2 by vincechu89, on Flickr"> View attachment 143929 "500" height="375" alt="P1000220_2" /></a>

4. Shot through some wine glasses used to frame the bottles behind.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/48075884@N02/4513624656/" title="P1000209_2 by vincechu89, on Flickr"> View attachment 143930 "500" height="375" alt="P1000209_2" /></a>

5,6,7 won't be to everyone's taste, these are PP-ed in the style of lomography (which I'm obsessed with :tongue:)

5.

6.

C&C welcome :)

I find the shot of all that booze on the wall particularly appealing for some reason.

Great sharp shots Vince,

Couldnt tell it was shot through glass, but I guess it gives a slight soft focus effect to the image, which suits it.

The saturation on the second one is spot on, the detail is still there. Different monitors with give a different appearance though.

If you can keep your head . . . .

My humorous (I hope) take on the forthcoming UK General Election. For non UK viewers these are the three main contenders for the top job (Prime Minister) and are the leaders of the three main parties (main as in potential votes) right: David Cameron middle: Gordon Brown left: Nick Clegg.

Inspired by Rudyard Kiplings beautiful Poem 'If' (which I include because 'if' you have not heard it you need to) :smile:

If

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

Hehe - nice one badlywornroy. I'd quite like to see Nick Clegg as Prime Minister.

Been playing around with some PP techniques

The GF1 and 20mm is a perfect camera for parties etc - fits in my jacket pocket easily.

Ground Zero

Early morning after a hard frost.

I thought it has a sort of Post 'apocalyptic' look :eek: hence the title.

Today is my 100th blip day :)
I think this ends my photo-a-day project, as from now on I won't feel compelled to post a picture every day, but I will continue with my photo journal as often as I can.

altierjinga.. you must be a very gentle soul.

I miss Lucca.

Bokeh Diem

Thanks Bokeh Diem!
Have I a gentle soul? Really don't know.
But I know when I shoot pictures my soul is always set between the lens and the sensor, so my photos should be considered as a-sort-of-double-exposure ...

In my blog you'll find a lot of pictures of Lucca.
I can send you pictures of places you loved in Lucca: feel free to ask!

This is a fantastic lens, aside from the operational noise....
First five minute of use and I got lucky with this shot. Straight from camera, no PP.
