I recently sold my G5 and Lumix 14-45mm lens to a friend. Now, I'm looking for a wide-to-normal zoom for my G7. I already have the 40-150 and was thinking about the new version of the 14-42mm. It's an improvement on the original 14-42mm and the price is right. But I can't seem to find it anywhere. Not at B&H, Adorama, etc. Even Amazon only has it from mostly overseas third-party sellers. What gives? The Lumix 12-32mm is still an option of course but it seems odd that the 14-42mm kit lens can't be found anywhere.

I don't know what gives. I'll probably be selling one to KEH on July 20. Interested?

I was wondering what to replace my kit O14-42 with. On the list were 12-32, 14-42 II, 12-50, or one of the 2.8 zooms. It's nuts because each of those lenses would get use if I owned them:

    • P12-14 II is quite compact, $150, and does give me up to 42mm - $150
    • 12-50 gives macro, water resistance, and the most tele in a low priced lens. A bargain at only $200
    • 12-40 is best all around optically with good tele, wide, and waterproofing, but is big and pricy
    • 12-35 is smaller than 12-40 plus better in lowlight when IS comes into play, but still pricy
    • 12-32 gives not only does it give me pocketablity on the PM2, but it also starts at 12mm - $300

I ultimately bought the 12-32 for $280 but I did put in bids for the 14-42 II and the similar 14-45. I guess it just came down to which lens I could get for what price. I did always want the 12-32 anyway for P&S type situations so I'm happy with it. Note that it doesn't have MF option.
