Superzooms generally don't get a lot of respect (most aren't that worthy of it).

In the case of the 14-140, this lens earns and deserves my respect. I love mine for those times when none of the other lenses in the bag quite serve this particular need. At those times, the 14-140 rocks and serves up very nice image quality along with an impressive range. The OIS is also amazingly effective. I've hand held this lens, at full telephoto extension (280mm equivalent), as slow as 1/15th sec. with very sharp results.

Most of the images displayed thus far are a true testament to the quality of this super zoom. Cool thing is, apparently, the new version will be even better and, perhaps a little less expensive. Not sure how they pull that off, as there really is NO free lunch... must be some magic going on somewhere...

140mm f5.6 1/1000 ISO200 handheld, sligthly contrast ajustment
50% crop

A lens smooth at 100mm up, generaly good for almost everything
I mainly use it for architecture/street/landscape/macro/portrait photos, almost all in one
best perfect sharpness 28-50mm f5.6-8, a litle distortion at 14mm, that's normal

two quality flaws, some reported similar flaws: rubber zoom ring got a bit loose after one year, glue can be noticed and if not proper handled while zoomming can slip, still dont affect overall performance, with firm fingers/grip there's no problem.
Second flaw is half millimeter gap when its attach
In the winter I had some problems, the lens couldnt totaly "talk" to the camera mostly when I turned it on, I dont know if it was bcz of this tiny gap or if just needed some contacts to be cleaned, still, summer came, and no problems so far.

New owner

Just purchased a mint 14-140 f/4-5.8 from a member here. I agree it's a large and heavy lens for m4/3. Particularly since I recently bought a 45-175, which is quite the little lightweight.

However, I can see the convenience of carrying only one lens at times. Here is one of my test shots.

I never expected to own, like, or use a super-zoom lens, but on a camping trip last week (that was not focused on photography) it was great to have the 14-140 mounted and ready to go. With the exception of a few shots with a 100-300, the 14-140 was the only lens I used and I enjoyed it.

My Oly 40-150 is an exceptional lens. Sharp, beatiful pictures and a bargain price. However, it's not a good lens for close quarters use.... I purchased the 14-140mm Panny because it seemed like a logical choice for a more versatile lens. It does not disappoint. Here is a sample that almost makes it into a macro lens.
