This indoor snapshot taken with a GH2, ISO 2500, at a birthday party, was handheld, 140mm (280mm equivalent!) at 1/15 of a second shutter. That's how good the OIS is with this lens. The 14-140 truly is an impressive lens.

I'm going to guess your technique is a factor too  I've had a good experience with OIS but it's not usually quite that good for me!

j... thanks for the comment. When I first witnessed the effectiveness of the OIS in the 14-140 I was very surprised. Yes, how the camera & lens are held, how gently the shutter button is pressed, and overall steadiness are certainly factors. In this case, I was standing and not braced against nor leaning on anything. I've experienced this lens stabilizing 140mm at about 1/15th sec. very well on several occasions... each case is unique, of course.

Don, are those two Mt. Rushmore shots from standing in approximately the same spot? If so that really says a lot about the versatility of this lens! The 14-140 has very quickly become a most-used lens for me... it's just fantastic versatility when I want to just grab the camera and go somewhere.

I love the monochrome color on the bison, just seems to fit the image well and reminds me of 1900s era photographs (EDIT: that was supposed to be 1800s but I guess it works either way haha).

Yes. The 10x range from 28mm to 280mm equivalent is monstrous. And what's amazing is that this huge range is covered with excellent performance. I have no quibbles about the performance of this lens whatsoever. Compared to many other m4/3 lenses, it is comparatively bulky, but it delivers the goods over a very wide range magnificently.

I completely agree with Don about the OIS. This shot should require about 1/250 or so shutter speed and you can see I was well below that. Like many others I wish it was a little faster and sharper at the long end, but you can get some great shots out of it.

GX1, 14-140 @ 114mm and f/5.8, shutter speed 1/60 -
