Some of you may have seen that the Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 price was recently dropped from $1299 to $1099 (US).

One of our members krugorg (Kyle) just noticed that B&H has the Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 for an additional $200 off (instant savings) when purchased with the GX1 (Update: also with GH2, or G5 - thanks Ken)!

Thanks alot for this...now I need to figure out if I can unload the body and make it worthwhile. And yes, my cart is empty til tomorrow @ 8pm or so EDT. It looks like there's several lenses available at discount including an out of stock 100-300mm for $399 and (silver-only) 14-42mm X for $251.29.

Hmmmm... I see this promo seems to be w/ all retailers not just B&H. I got my 12-35 2 weeks ago through Amazon so wonder if they would refund me back the $200 difference. I know places like Best Buy & others will honor lower prices with a certain period after a purchase but I've never ran into this w/ Amazon. Of course I could return it & buy it at the lower price right from Amazon if they don't adjust it but don't want to do that.

    Any thoughts/advice?

Probably worth a try to email/call Amazon and ask for a discount.

When I tried Amazon (direct, not third-party), they have the price at $1099, but don't give you the add'l $200 discount when you add a GX1 to the cart. This could just not be showing, though, because the 12-35 is out of stock.

There are actually 2 rebates are overlapping here, per Samy's website. Though, I think these instant rebates are usually retailer specific.

Amazon will never price match post-purchase (generally). Just return and re-buy.

Well Amazon said they don't price match even if the product was purchased within the return window so I either have to suck it up or return the lens & buy it again at the lower price!

They price-matched an item for me on a one-time-only basis because I was an Amazon Prime customer.

I"m Amazon prime as well so not sure why they wouldn't. The customer service person realized that I could return it & buy at a cheaper price but when she checked w/ someone else the answer was no. $200 is a big discount so hard to pass up but man I don't like the idea of having to return it because of that only.

That's a killer deal! I wouldn't be surprised if that means $899 is around the price the lens will cost as part of the GH3 + 12-35mm kit too.

I'm looking for a GX1 but not the lens, could I resell the lens on the used market for more than $899 and save some money on the body?

Seems there is some slack in the pricing for this lens. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up under $1,000 regular street price. Which would sadly still be around 2-300 too much for my tastes.

I've seen used ones not sell, wonder if they totally overestimated the demand at $1299. Especially with the reviews suggesting it is quite good, but not stellar (unlike say the new Canon 24-70 II). I'm waiting for it to stabilize at a lower price point so I can try it out and not take a killing if I decide to resell it after a couple months of trial use.

Still all there. You need to click on it to have a pop-up come up. Then in the pop-up look at the side-bar and click on each individual offer.

B&H also reduced the regular price of this lens to $1099, and they were still in stock when I checked this morning.

I'm so glad this price reduction happened when it did because I had just received my 12-35 not too weeks ago from Amazon. Since they would not credit after the sale I returned it and bought it again from Amazon & saved $200 (less shipping back to Amazon) but I also used some American Express points I had accumulated so ended up costing me $715 & will be back in my hands by Wednesday along w/ the 60MM 2.8 macro.

When the 35-100 comes out I"m certainly waiting a while before I get it (if I decide to) to make sure the price settles before I jump. Lesson learned!

Yeah, never buy Panasonic lenses at introduction. Especially the expensive ones. They tend to come down in price significantly within not too many months. Not all of them, but enough to be worth waiting.

Olympus lenses, on the other hand, seem to stay pretty close to their introductory prices - even the "over priced" ones.

Good to know. The 12-35 is the first new release lens I bought so didn't know but now I do.
